About me
Posted by sophiatwrites in About me on January 29, 2011
My name is Sophia Tesch and I have been a local activist and advocate for the rights of working, middle class families and small business owners in Mesa, Arizona for about five years now. I live in Mesa with my husband and children. I am a writer, mother and a volunteer in my community. As a graduate and member of the Board of the Mesa Leadership Training and Development program which is part of the Mesa Chamber of Commerce Business in Education Foundation learned much of the information shared on this blog. As well as hands on information I learned from scratch being part of local campaigns and citizen advocacy projects. I am also Chair of the City of Mesa Human Services Advisory Board which advises Mesa City Council on the appropriation of funding for programs assisting Mesa residents in need.

Who is the Civil Citizen?
I am a nobody and nobodies can do anything. Many think that you need money and power to change the government and the world order. That is not true as is evident today in Tunisia and Egypt. In communities all over the United States and all over the world. Anyone can make a positive change and can civilly and effectively engage their government. I have learned from scratch and I will teach you. I have earned the leadership positions in my town but learning, caring , knowing how the system works and working that system to make positive change in my community.
